When did the calendar start?
In the late centuries, there was no concept of date and time. People used to see the sun and moon and consider day and night, but later on, for making it, a more specific punctuality calendar appeared. Still, after the birth of Jesus Christ, there was no formal system, a prophet calendar which we are using now.
The first accurate calendar was created by the Sumerians around 4000 BC. They divided the year into 12 months, based on lunar cycles, with each month consisting of 30 days. However, the Sumerians had no concept of the equinox or solstice, so their calendar did not correspond to any seasons.
How did the calendar start?
Initially "lunisolar calendar" been used which includes months based on lunar cycles and considers the solar cycle by adding extra months every few years to bring the lunar and solar years into alignment. This is how Judaism's religious calendar also works.
• The Egyptians used a similar system, with 12 months based on the lunar cycle that included 30 days each, plus five extra days at the end of the year. But they added an extra month every three years to keep them aligned with the seasons.
• The ancient Greeks followed suit with a 12-month calendar nearly identical to Egypt's, except they counted 28 days in each month instead of 30.
• Nowadays, the world is filled with clocks, watches, computers, and other high-tech gadgets that tell us the time at any given moment. Yet, for most of human history, knowing what day it was not easy to answer.
• The date started right after the birth of Jesus Christ, but, For decades, travelers and historians have debated the exact date and time of Jesus Christ's birth. But now one researcher has an answer: It was October 7 in the year 4 B.C., at least in the Roman province of Judea.
• Ancient Babylon was the first recorded use of a complete solar calendar time-keeping system with months and years. The system included 19 months of 29 or 30 days and an extra month added every second year. This calendar became the foundation for the Jewish calendar, which migrated from Mesopotamia to Israel and Judah as well as other parts of the world. Incorporating the Babylonian calendar into the Jewish liturgical life also ensured that it is mentioned in several biblical passages, including:
1) Genesis
2) Nehemiah
3) Esther
4) Daniel
5) Ezra
6) Chronicles
