What Is Ibuprofen?

This drug is also called Advil, Genpril, IBU, Motrin, and Proprinal. Ibuprofen is a Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID) and primarily works to reduce pain and inflammation in the body. It is also very good in the treatment of fever, headaches, toothaches, back pain, arthritis, menstrual cramps, and minor injuries.



What are the side effects of ibuprofen?
Ibuprofen, just like any other drug, can cause an allergic reaction. What are the signs of allergic reactions? Hives, swelling of face or throat, severe skin reaction, burning eyes, skin rash, etc. The common side effects are nausea and vomiting, bleeding, dizziness, and headaches.




What should I avoid when taking ibuprofen?
●    You should not take aspirin together with ibuprofen. When taken together, ibuprofen reduces the effectiveness of aspirin.
●    Avoid alcohol because it may increase your risk of stomach bleeding.
●    Also, don’t take it before or after heart surgery because it can cause excessive bleeding, which can end up being fatal.
●    If you are pregnant, avoid taking ibuprofen, especially during the last 20 weeks. This is because it may damage your child’s heart and kidneys.
●    If you have a known history of allergic reactions to taking ibuprofen, you should not take it at any cost.
●    Ibuprofen can dissolve in breastmilk and therefore breastfeeding mothers should not take it. Do not give it to children under 6 months of age unless you consult a doctor.
