Quadrilateral
Four points are joined together to form a quadrilateral if any three points are not collinear. Quadrilaterals have four sides, four angles, and four vertices. According to the Latin word "Quadra," which means four, "Latus" refers to the number of sides. All four sides of a quadrilateral may or may not be equal.
Definition in Quadrilaterals
You can find quadrilaterals in many different shapes and sizes. It's important to remember the order of the vertices when naming quadrilaterals. Names for this quadrilateral might include ABCD, BCDA, ADCB, or DCBA (for example). As the vertices of a quadrilateral are arranged differently when ACBD or DBAC are used, these names are inappropriate. AB, BC, CD, and DA are the four corners of the quadrilateral ABCD. AC and BD are the two diagonals.
Quadrilateral characteristics
These four quadrilaterals all have their own unique set of characteristics. However, quadrilaterals all share a few characteristics. Listed here are the details.
Each of them has four corners.
• There are four points on each side.
• There are two diagonals in each of them.
Interior angles add up to 360 degrees.
The other properties of quadrilaterals will be examined in detail. The following properties of quadrilaterals can help us identify a quadrilateral.
Square
There are four equal sides and angles in a square, making it a quadrilateral.
• Four equally spaced sides
• Assuming the following:
• Two sets of parallel sides and four right angles A = B = C = D = 90°
• AC > DC and DE > BC
• A pair of parallel diagonals
• BD is the inverse of AC.
• A pair of intersecting diagonals, AC BD
• Cross-sections of intersecting lines.
Rectangle
There are two pairs of equal and parallel opposite sides and four right angles in a rectangle.
• Parallel sides AB and AD form two pairs in a rectangle.
• Right angles A = B = C = D = 90°
• AB = DC and AD = BC are opposite sides of equal lengths
• AC and BD are two equal diagonals.
• Cross-sections of intersecting lines.
Parallelogram
In a parallelogram, each pair of opposite sides is parallel to each other.
• PQ = RT and PR = QT are two pairs of parallel sides of the parallelogram.
• PQ = RT and PR = QT are opposite sides with equal lengths.
• PQ = RT and PR = QT have opposite angles, P = T and Q = R.
Trapezium
In a trapezium, one pair of opposite sides is parallel to each other.
It is referred to as a base when the sides are parallel to each other.
• In the figure above, EF and GH are the foundations.
• The sides that are not parallel to each other are referred to as legs.
• Legs are EG and FH in the figure above.
The trapezium's sides, angles, and diagonals have nothing to do with its uniqueness. It's called an isosceles trapezium if the two non-parallel sides are equal in length. In the following quadrilateral, As a result, XYZ is an isosceles trapezium in which the legs (WX = ZY) and the diagonals (XZ = WY) are both equal making it an isosceles trapezoid.
A quadrilateral with four equal sides is a rhombus
• Two sets of parallel sides
• A rhombus
• EH > FG, and EF > HG
• There are four equal halves.
• Equivalents of each other: EH = GFG = FFE
There are three types of opposite angles:
• Diagonals that are perpendicular to each other, EG and HF;
• Diagonals that bisect each other.
A kite is a quadrilateral with equal sides on each side.
A kite has the following characteristics.
• Two sets of equal adjacent sides, AB = BC and CD = DA
• •The obtuse angle A = C
• Diagonals that are perpendicular to each other AC BD
• One pair of opposite angles (which are equal)
• The longer diagonal bisects, the narrower diagonal.
