Savant Syndrome, also known as the Sage Syndrome, is characterized by causing individuals a high-level ability to perform in a particular task, these people being considered “a genius” in that particular task. On the other hand, they have great deficiencies in terms of social skills and performance of other tasks other than that which is mastered with a high level of mastery. This condition is often associated with autism spectrum disorders and disorders caused by accidents in which the brain is damaged by accidents. Despite these conditions, it does not appear in the current DSM-V. It has to be differentiated from Asperger's Syndrome because, although both share psychomotor clumsiness and lack of social skills, in the case of Asperger's, interests are restrictive and limited and even if they have a high level of execution, they do not reach the master's level of Savant Syndrome. On the other hand, in the case of Asperger's it is a condition with which one is born, while in the case of Savant Syndrome it is possible that it appears due to an accident that affects the nervous system. The fields in which these people stand out are: memory, music, calculation, language and plastic art [3,12,14].
What is the reason for this concept?
-I previously published a blog about Thomas Muller and in that I mentioned it but I did not explain about it so here I bring you.
