What is the organ of Jacobson?
Hedgehogs don't come out until it gets dark. He prefers to live under hedges or in dense bushes. We don't see them often! They look so great, these mammals. Especially the baby hedgehogs are super-cute, who drink at the mother.

The hedgehog does not have 5 senses, like most animals. The hedgehog has an extra sense!! Besides smelling, tasting, feeling, hearing and seeing, he has the “Organ of Jacobson”. That helps him recognize smells during his hunt!
Jacobson's organ is in his head, between the palate and the nasal cavity. When the hedgehog smells a nice smell from its prey, extra spit comes in its mouth. That nice smell sticks to the spit. With his tongue, he brings this fragrant spit to the Organ of Jacobson.
