What is your money-mindset?
The money-mindset, in my opinion, is the most important thing if you want to start saving. But how do you get your money-mindset so that it helps you save? And which money-mindset helps save?
My personal story
My money-mindset has changed a lot over the past two years. I grew up in a family where there was more than enough money. I was quite economical, but I learned that an average pair of shoes never cost less than €100, -. And that going on winter sports every year is part of it. And then I started living on myself... I was shocked by the gas/light bill alone, the first time I got this. I never realized that I had to pay €152, - per month purely to have light and warmth. But despite that, I was still pretty easy at spending money. Fortunately, I had an aversion to loans, so I never spent more money than it came in, but still there was very little left.
When my husband and I moved in together, we tried to make some cuts here and there. I slowly found out that at the Scapino they also have great shoes that you don't have to spend a fortune on. And that a coat of €40, - really does not mean that it is a very poor quality. Like I said, my image was not very realistic...
