What's a wapiti?
Wapiti's live in the forests of North America and Asia. He's a family of cervids. The wapiti is smaller than a moose, but larger than the red deer. The antlers of a wapiti can grow up to one and a half meters wide.

The word wapiti comes from the Indians. Wapiti means white. The wapitis have a white back! Of course, that stands out well in the woods, so it is easily recognizable.
Wapiti's mostly live in a group and they eat mostly ordinary grass. In autumn, they also eat acorns, beech nuts, blackberries and other fruits. In winter, they even eat bark, in order to survive. It is not an endangered species, but their number has deteriorated considerably because they are hunted a lot.
