New grand pianos can cost between $10,000 and $150,000, while upright pianos have a smaller price range from $2000 to $8500. Used piano prices remain about the same for horizontal pianos, but good vertical pianos are sometimes offered for sale for $500 to 2500 dollars.

Differences

The price isn't the only difference between pianos:

  • Wing pianos range from 135 to 304 cm in length, and 135 to 216 cm in width.
  • Uprights range from 91-152 cm in height, and 61-91 cm depth, and usually have a width of 147 cm.
  • Wing pianos weigh between 240 and 500 kg.
  • Uprights weigh between 180 and 227kg.
