What to do in Antwerp
Do you need help!
It may sound crazy, have really been to Belgium several times, but never done a day in Antwerp. Now it has to come of it. Also because I was able to find a client in Belgium, near Antwerp for my final thesis. So a weekend in Antwerp is now almost inevitable, since in order to be able to write my final thesis properly for my studies, I will have to travel to Belgium at least once.
However, what are the things you need to do when doing a weekend in Antwerp? Of course, I have been searching the internet for a while and have come across a top 10 of sights. I would like to know from you what you would recommend?
Maybe even interesting if you can write a full post about really specific one thing from the top 10, so that others can also be inspired!
Top 10
but Het Steen, I would recommend
If you can take tram 4, and you'll see most of the city automatically. It's really doing a big round.
Museums: Rubens House, plant in Moretus and go to the Vlaeykensgang. From there, walk to the Friday Market. The more modern Fashion Museum is also nearby. Near the Fashion Museum, you can have lunch at the Pain Quotidien, tasty and not that expensive. Conscienseplein is also nice, behind the Grote Markt. To eat, I recommend the Horse Stable, Wijngaartstraat and then arrive at Conscienceplein with the Carolus Borromeus Church, also very nice. Da Giovanni (Italian) at the Groenplaats is also very good and well known.
Shopping/walking: the shop/walking area De Wilde Zee, near the Boerentoren. The Oude Koornmarkt is also a pleasant walk with many restaurants. The Eleventh Commandment is a special café, very picturesque, next to the cathedral. 't Waagstuk (if that corona survived) is known for its menu: more than 100 different beers. This is on the Stadswaag. There is another one, café de Kulminator, voted the best café in the world, in the theater district.
A walk 'on the pont' is also possible, at the Steen. Drive by car or tram to Linkeroever to eat mussels by the water when the weather is nice (summer).
Just check the internet, because something has changed after corona.
