What to watch after Outlander on Netflix

If you have not seen Outlander on Netflix, you’ve got to watch it at least once. It is one of the most talked-about shows in a mix of fantasy and history that will remind of a lot about Game of Thrones. Outlander started in 2014 and is based on book series written by Diana Gabaldon. This is a great show about Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) who is a nurse in WWII and accidentally travels through time 200 years back to the 1700s. She ends up in a fight between the Scots and English where she meets the love of her love, the ever so handsome Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan). The show takes you through an adventurous journey of the couple. The show is on its 6th season and if you are waiting for the upcoming episodes then here are a few shows you can watch in the meantime.

Vikings
If you have not watched Vikings yet then you are missing out on an extremely fun series. It’s about a Viking farmer, Ragnar Lothbrok who becomes a legendary Viking. The story is based on actual events which later focus on his sons, Ivar the Boneless and Bjorn Ironside. It is a lot like Outlander as it runs through many years and shows the struggle for power, the fall of leaders, and family politics.

The Borgias
If you loved the twisted family drama in Outlander then watch The Borgias. It is set in the Renaissance era, Italy, and revolves around the Bogia family who is willing to do anything to stay in power. You will get to watch scandals, betrayal, and a lot more through the three seasons. You won’t miss Outlander while watching The Borgias the incest and larger-than-life characters will keep reminding you of it. It is quite popular on Netflix, so check it out.

Downton Abbey
Another good one to watch is Downton  Abbey which ended in 2015 but is still one of the most-watched series. The series is about the Crawley Family which is an aristocratic family from the early 1900s. The level of aristocracy and charm of the character's exhibition is extraordinary. Each character stands out uniquely and makes their mark. Through the commentaries, we learn that there has been tremendous research done to get every detail right: the changes in their society, in their status, in their dressing style, in their accessories, and even in their hairstyle. The most beautiful thing they brought about was the relationship the lords and ladies had with the butler, chauffeur, footmen, and servants. The importance both parties give to each other is just marvelous. Downtown Abbey does not only fascinate us with the infrastructure and vintage cars but has also taught us the value of relationships. The series will grip you throughout its six seasons.

The Witcher
This one is based on a series of novels by the same name. It is the story of Geralt of Rivia who is a monster hunter. He is on a journey to find him while fighting monsters, beasts, and evil humans. If you like Outlander for the fights and steamy hot sex scenes then this is the show to watch. The show will keep you hooked throughout the series with its storyline, great acting, and excellent settings.

When Calls The Heart
This is a great show about the story of Elizabeth Thatcher who is a young school teacher and is taken from a life of luxury and sent to a small coal-mining town in Western Canada in 1910. She has to learn the ways of that time to survive, yes, sounds a lot like Outlander, doesn’t it? The show is full of drama, romance and gore so don’t forget to keep a box of tissues handy. You will enjoy its five seasons for sure while you wait for Outlander’s next episode that will air on 25th April 2022.
