What to watch after suits on Netflix

Suits is a show that may appeal to anyone who isn't a lawyer. The Aaron Korsh-created USA courtroom drama defied all expectations and stayed on the air long enough to become the network's longest-running series — and, sure, it will now be remembered for starring Meghan Markle.

Personally, Suits is my favorite show on television because of its masterful character work and great storylines and I think there is no show like suits.

Harvey will make you fall in love with his personality and make you watch the show in awe. Mike will make you feel his passion and worry for him each episode. Louis will make you laugh harder than ever before. Same goes for Donna. Rachel will put you in a reverie. And Jessica will make you tougher.

Suits is one of a kind. Technically, there are series similar to it, but none are anywhere as good. But if you're willing to venture a bit out of the legal drama genre, then there are a couple of suggestions I can give you which have an enjoyable combination of witts and smarts, just like Suits.

1. Billions

Billions, a Showtime drama series produced by Brian Koppelman, David Levien, and Andrew Ross Sorkin, is about brutal financial battle between rich people from various walks of life. The rivalry between Chuck Rhoades, a US Attorney for the Southern District of New York (played by Paul Giamatti), and Bobby Axelrod, an ambitious millionaire (played by Damien Lewis), is the show's major hook.

With a star-studded award-winning cast, outstanding performances, and enthralling plotlines, Billions has become one of TV’s best dramas. If it's the biting one-liners that hooked you to Suits, you should give Billions a shot.

2. The Good Wife and The Good Fight

If we're being honest, the legal aspects of Suits were never the best part of the show — they served as a solid backdrop for the show's much stronger character-driven narratives and acted as a backbone — but if you're looking for an excellent legal drama with even better characters to binge after Suits, queue up CBS's The Good Wife, which stars Emmy winner Julianna Margulies as Alicia Florrick, the wife of the Cook County state's attorney Once you've finished the series, watch its spin-off, the similarly excellent Paramount+ drama The Good Fight, which follows Christine Baranski's Diane Lockhart.

3. Pearson

Gina Torres stars in Pearson, a Suits spin-off (aka Jessica Pearson). As one show comes to a close, another begins.

Jessica departed the firm and New York in season 6, traveling to Chicago. Pearson's attention will be drawn to Jessica Pearson's new life in Chicago. Jessica will be confronted with the nasty world of Chicago politics, which will undoubtedly be a different experience than running a legal practice in New York. Personally, I'm thrilled to have Jessica back and can't wait to see what stories Aaron Korsh has in store for us. There is only season one, looking forward for season two.

4. White Collar

Another show from USA Network's "Blue Sky" era that was set in New York, White Collar should probably be your choice after Suits, as it feels both tonally similar to Suits and is anchored by another strong relationship featuring a mentor and mentee. Created by Jeff Eastin, the series stars Tim DeKay as FBI special agent Peter Burke and Matt Bomer as the highly skilled forger and con artist Neal Caffrey, who becomes Burke's informant and helps him stop white collar crimes.

Their unconventional relationship provides the foundation for a story in which the characters are constantly escaping situations they probably have no business escaping, and like Suits, the rest of the cast is also incredibly strong, making the show an easy and pleasurable binge.

5. House Of Cards

Despite the controversies that ended up surrounding this show late on, House Of Cards really is a gripping show that got audiences talking and engaging in the world of politics. While it is all about politics, that doesn't stop the show being a great one for fans of Suits to watch.

It has all the drama that goes along with Suits, with lots of behind the scenes backstabbing and a real focus on personal relationships. There's romance, death, and some major betrayals with lots of twists and turns that are hard to see coming.

6. How To Get Away With Murder

If you’re looking for something current to jump into, maybe you should consider How to Get Away with Murder. This crime/legal drama was created by Peter Nowalk and is produced by Shonda Rimes. The series follows Annalise Keating (a law professor at a distinguished Philadelphia university played by Viola Davis) and her aspiring law students who become entwined in a murder plot.

If morally ambiguous characters and stories that are built on suspense are your jam, then How to Get Away with Murder is a must-watch. It may not have the witty humor of Suits, but it will keep you glued to your seat.
