What to Watch Discovery Plus
And another streaming service contender enters the arena. For many, the Discovery slate of channels is the best in class for comfort viewing, whether you enjoy the high-octane food frenzies over on the Food Network, the messy relationships found on TLC or the real-life animal content of the Discovery Channel.
With its launch on January 4, the new Discovery streaming service boasts “50 original titles and over 150 hours of exclusive content,” according to their press release, comprising several segments of the Discovery arm from lifestyle to cooking, true crime, and nature. Within the first year, the company hopes to include over 1,000 hours of content. The service costs $4.99 a month to use, although select Verizon customers will get a year included in their plans.
Ahead, we break down the shows you should be taking time to seek out over Discovery+.
“Mysterious Planet”
Narrated by David Schwimmer, “Mysterious Planet” is one of two new nature programs to be live on Discovery+ at launch (the other being “A Perfect Planet”). The series, created by Andrew Murray, “ventures to the ends of the earth to unlock the greatest mysteries behind the world’s most incredible species.” The episodes will look at five diverse hotspots and the beautiful creatures residing there. If you’re a fan of the “Planet Earth” series of docs, this should be right up your alley.
The “90 Day Fiance” Universe
Yes, there is a “90 Day Fiance” Universe and it can all be found on Discovery+. Not only can you stream all 8 seasons of the binge-worthy series, as well as its countless spin-offs, but Discovery is also adding four additional shows exclusive to their streaming service. Highlights include “90 Days Bares All,” an extension of their tell-all episodes wherein past guests can talk about things that didn’t make it to air. It hasn’t been said…but it’ll be interesting to see if episodes become uncensored.
