What to watch mystery

Watching a mystery show is a lot of fun but most of them are typed cast. When we talk about mystery shows we immediately think of a tall, weird-looking guy, wearing a black coat and a hat and walking in the dark allies of a busy city. The truth is that mysteries come in all shapes and sizes and are very entertaining. They can be funny and suspenseful to watch plus the stories keep you hooked for hours. If you are like me who like to watch murder mysteries then here are a few that I enjoyed watching.

The Afterparty on apple TV+
This is a great series and is super fun to watch. It has eight episodes in the first season and is a comic mystery that will entertain you to the fullest. It follows the investigation of a high-profile murder that occurs at a high school reunion afterparty and each episode shows the night’s event through the eyes of a popular film genre that corresponds to the perspective of the person being questioned. Although it is not a very deep series the actors have done justice to their roles and are good to watch from the start to the finish.

Trapped on Amazon Prime
Trapped is for the fans of Nordic noir. This is an Icelandic crime drama about a town that has recently been snowed and closed down but a headless corpse is found in the local port. The local police have to find the murderer before the ice melts and he can run away. The show has an excellent dramatic tension to it thus the name trapped. You will feel sorry for the people of the town who are stuck in the snow with a murderer on loose and hope the police find him soon.

Only murderers in the building on Hulu
This one is a comic murder mystery with a cast like Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez who are obsessed with crime and are good in solving it. They together try to solve a case that happens in their shared apartment building. The cast of the show is dynamic and makes you laugh as it slowly reveals the secret lonely lives of all the members.

Psych on Peacock
Psych is a show about a fake psychic who solves crimes with James Roday Rodriguez, Dule Hill, Timothy Omundson, and Maggie Lawson. This is a mix of comedy with a mystery that is light yet hilarious. It ran for eight seasons and will keep you guessing as to what happens next while you laugh your heart out.

Unbelievable  on Netflix
This one is based on real events and has been detailed in the Pulitzer Prize-winning 2015 article “An Unbelievable Story of Rape”. It is about a teenage girl who is accused of lying about being raped. She tries to beat the system hoping to find someone who would believe her. It is a tough story with excellent acting and a gripping tale.
