The 2022 Oscars are now over and great movies won. We all know the Oscar is one of the most-watched TV event in the movie industry and this year it was great and a lot of surprises happened.
Well, let’s get back to the movies.
The major streaming services are constantly adding movies every day and right now is a great time to catch up on some of the best new releases to watch.
1. Moon Knight (Disney Plus) 2022
Marvel’s getting weirder — and I like it.
This one exceeded my expectations. It has a cool spooky unique vibe different from other Marvel stuff. It almost feels like a mystery because of the little secrets he slowly uncovers and finds out about his alter ego's life throughout the first episode. I think music selection is an important part of a film or series and they threw some great 70’s and 80’s jams in the first episode.
Most importantly the acting is great, especially the main character who is hilarious. He is a rather fearful lonely man who calls his mom a lot, he is not dangerous and has no combat experience whatsoever but finds himself in places where he has to figure those things out really fast if he wants to survive. Overall, I think it’s a good show that is going to get better and better as more episodes come out.
2. King Richard (2021)
I would recommend watching this one, not as a new release but as a movie with a great story of two amaizing tennis players we mostly know, Serena and Venus William. And the best part of it is that it won the 2022 Oscar award.
Everyone knows Venus and Serena Williams today, but fewer know the story of how they became such dominant forces in tennis. Nominated for six Oscars this year, King Richard tells the story of the legendary athletes and their father, Richard Williams, who developed a brazen 78-page plan to write his daughters into history. Training on neglected courts every day in Compton, California, the girls feel their motivation shaped by Richard’s relentless drive and the balanced, steady presence of their mother.
2. The Girl From Plainville (Hulu)
Based upon the true story of Michelle Carter’s “texting-suicide” case, a young woman from a small town in Massachusetts is accused of persuading her boyfriend to commit suicide.
The narrative packs in suicide, suspected murder, teen romance, mental health struggles, tragic text messages and a landmark murder trial that set a fascinating precedent about the power of words. But what is the true story behind the drama? Get to watch it and you will enjoy it.
3. The Sky Is Everywhere (2022)
The Sky is everywhere is a whimsical movie that tells a teenage story of loss, discovery, and love. After the death of Lennie's sister, Bailey, she finds herself torn between the seductive Toby - Bailey's boyfriend who shares her grief - and Joe, the new boy in town who bursts with life. Each offers Lennie something she desperately needs.
4. Cheaper by the Dozen (2022)
OK, so nobody asked for a Cheaper by the Dozen remake. But that won’t stop Disney! This brand-new remake of the family classic stars Zach Braff and Gabrielle Union as the parents of the 12 Baker children. If you know Cheaper by the Dozen, you know what you’re in for Hectic home life, insane family business, and all kinds of family-friendly shenanigans.
5. Turning Red (2022)
If you ask me, this movie has quickly become my favourite animated movie of 2022 (So far). Soul is in a close second, but I think Turning Red is even better than that movie!
Pixar’s newest release follows thirteen-year-old Mei Lee, a confident kid who wants to be a dutiful daughter but is also caught up in the chaos of adolescence. However, her family also has a fun little secret that’s going to make things harder. Whenever she feels a very strong emotion, she turns into a giant red panda.
