October is a fun month. It brings the fresh chills of the winter weather and the much-awaited Halloween. We celebrate tons of festivals here in India but Halloween is not very popular yet although Hollywood movies have created a stir in India during October and people are now starting to celebrate it on a low key.

October also brings a lot of new shows on Netflix, especially horror series. You will get to watch some of the most awaited series like The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and many more. If you want to avoid the horror and still want to enjoy Netflix then you can check out the very cute Emily in Paris and the funny family of Schitt’s Creek. Emily in Paris
This is a fun-to-watch series about a girl who accepts a job in Paris and goes through a cultural shock. This is a fashion fuelled soap very much like Sex and the City which is full of romance, career-oriented drama, and loads of mixed emotions. It is a well-written comedy that will keep you engaged and have you asking for more.

Schitt’s Creek
If you want to laugh and make your tummy hurt then watch Schitt's Creek. This is a Canadian sitcom developed by Dan Levy and his father, Eugene Levy that aired from 2015 to 2020 and was a massive hit. The series has 80 episodes and trust me you would not want to end after the finale. The show is about the stinky rich Rose family who loses their fortune and has to relocate to a small town that they bought some time back just for fun. They end up living in a motel with their adult children, David and Alexis. It is hilarious to see the rich family trying to live their new poor life and dealing with a lot of other things they never thought of.

To The Lake
No matter how much you want to try to avoid horror and gore but you’ll end up watching it especially in October. To The Lake is a Russian series about an apocalyptic viral outbreak. Yes, there are tons of other series like this one on Netflix but trust me this one is good. The story revolves around a bunch of families who pack up their lives and try to find a lake that supposedly has a boat big enough to house them. The tension introduced in the series will keep you wanting to watch more episodes after episode.

The Haunting of Hill House
This is a must-watch in October 2020. The series is created by Mike Flanagan who also created very popular Oculus and Gerald’s Game. The series has 10 episodes on Netflix and is very interesting to watch. It might come as a horror show but it is a mediation on grief that takes you through a journey of mysteries, mental illness, and grief. This is a good series to watch if you are not a horror show fan but still want excitement and enjoy a little scare.

The Queen’s Gambit
Now, this is a little different than other shows. Chess is a captivating game but making a show out of it that is entertaining is an art. The show is about a woman, Beth Harmon (Anya Taylor) who is an orphan but a chess prodigy. This show will take you through some of the most emotional scenes that will encourage you to do what you are best at without hesitating. The Queen’s Gambit is not just about the game Chess but about a woman who beats all the odds and becomes the world’s best in world. Don’t miss it this October.
