What to watch online in India

The first OTT in India was launched by Reliance Entertainment in 2008 and was called BigFlix. Later OTT started getting its popularity in 2013 after the launch of Zee TV and Sony Liv, soon after Disney Hotstar came into being in 2015. Currently, there are more than 40 OTT platforms in India that are offering excellent entertainment over the internet in India.

After the lockdown in March 2020, all the movies were closed down and this is when people in India turned to OTT platforms for entertaining themselves. India is right now giving a tough competition to shows that are being aired on OTT and here is a list of some of the most-watched shows you can watch in India online.

Tandav
If you like to watch the dirty game of politics and all that it brings with it then you will enjoy watching Tandav. This is a story about a son who is a leader of a political party and wants to become the Prime Minister by removing his father from the position. The handsome Saif Ali Khan is in the lead role with ever-so-stunning Dimple Kapadia, Sunil Grover playing a shady character, and many more. The show will keep you guessing as each episode has a twist that you can’t expect. The show can be watched on Amazon Prime Video

Tribhanga
This one is a cute movie about love, relationship, and bonds between a mother, daughter, and grandmother. The movie revolves around Nayantara Apte (Tanvi Azmi) who is in a coma and her daughter Anuradha (Kajol) and her granddaughter, Masha (Mithila Palker). You will watch these three come together to recollect their family’s past which has not been very pleasant. The show will take you into a flashback journey through which it will show you how these women took decisions in the past that changed their lives. It is available on Netflix.

The White Tiger
This is one of the most talked-about shows in India. The show is about a rich couple, Priyanka Chopra and Raj Kumar Rao. It is a show about the hierarchy of Indian society and will make you realize the hardship people go through in their lives during different phases. The lead of the show is played by Gourav (Balram Halwai) who is a poor boy from a village who takes decisions and makes choices that takes him up the ladder in society. The show is an eye-opener and many of you might agree with what you see. You can watch it on Netflix and enjoy it.

Rang De Basanti
If you are feeling patriotic then you should watch Rang De Basanti. This is an excellent movie that shows the youth, their passion for their country, and the hardships they face in India. The movie has some of the best songs and unforgettable music by none other than the very popular A. R. Rahman. This Indian classic can be streamed on Netflix.

The Lunch Box
The movie Lunch Box does not need too much of an introduction when we tell you that the lead role is played by Irrfan Khan. This is a romantic drama that is sweet, innocent, and very simple. The movie is brilliantly made and shows a fling that happens to start between a man and a woman by mistake. It is a must-watch because you won’t understand the movie and the feelings behind it unless you watch it on Netflix.
