Nobody likes to cry or feel sad but then there are times when you feel like crying your heart out. Everybody goes through this, there is something comforting about a cathartic cry, it liberates you at times. Movies come in very handy when you want to cry over something and wash it off.
Another great thing about movies is that even the happy ones can make you cry, the emotions make you empathize with the character and you feel like crying tears of joy for them. Here are a few movies that I liked when I felt like giving me a dose of some extra emotions. Hope it does the same for you.
Blue Valentine
This is a beautiful heartbreaking romantic drama. It is a story about a couple played by Canadian American Actor Ryan Gosling (Dean) and his wife Michelle Williams (Cindy). The movie takes you through their life’s journey starting from2004 when they meet and get married in 2010 and have a daughter.  Upon looking at their relationship one might find it perfect up it has its own highs and lows as they face a dying marriage without being bitter toward each other in hopes of raising their daughter well. It is an amazing story with a perfect balance between love and heartbreak.
UP
If you are in the mood to cry your eyes out then watch UP. It will make you cry within the first 10 minutes. Although it is a children’s movie it is a beautiful movie about falling in love, being married, not being able to have kids, and then losing his wife before they could take the dream trip they always wanted. The movie is heart-wrenching and full of emotions you will relate to.
Dear Zachary: A Letter to A Son About His Father
This is a true story about 28-year-old Dr. Andrew Bagby who was shot dead by his girlfriend in 2001. She runs away to Canada and walks free on bail while being pregnant with Andrew’s child. Andrew’s parents start a campaign to win the custody of the child and convict the killer. The movie uses original videos to show the child about his father which will make you cry. The movie is written, produced, and directed by Kurt Kuenne and is based on the life of his friend Andrew. It is a must-watch.
Lion
This movie is again a true story about a poor young boy who lived in a small village in India. The movie is based on a non-fiction book, A Long Way Home written by Saroo Brierley. It is about Saroo played by Dev Patel who boards a train by mistake and travels far away from home without knowing how to get back. He is later adopted by an Australian couple and decides to find his biological family played by Nicole Kidman and David Wenham by using Google Earth. He travels back to India and find’s his mother. This is a touching movie about love, separation, and family ties and will make your heart bleed.
