One of the tests that a pregnant woman must inevitably go through is an ultrasound. At least three ultrasounds will be necessary throughout the pregnancy, one for each trimester of pregnancy. When a woman becomes pregnant, when she sees the positive result of the test, she already imagines her future child. An illusion is generated by the good news and a desire and expectation to perform the first ultrasound and to be able to hear her heartbeat and see her baby.

The first pregnancy ultrasound confirms that life is brewing inside you. This is a very important and emotional moment because it is a kind of presentation of your baby. You are finally going to meet your baby and, through the screen, that first contact with your child will become unforgettable.

The first ultrasound is the most important of the first trimester and, sometimes, the only one that is done at this stage. It is usually done between weeks 12-13. Both routes are used; the abdominal route and the vaginal route to better assess the anatomy. Through this ultrasound, we date the pregnancy, depending on what the fetus measures, the date of the last period is recalculated and the probable date of delivery is calculated too. As important measurements there are:

• Craniocaudal length: it measures the fetus from the head to the caudal region (where the vertebral column ends).
