Amazon. As popular as it sounds. Amazon didn't climb the tree from the apex, it climbed it from the bottom of the tree. 'When did Amazon start?' Is what this article is all about. But, before discussing the crux of the matter, in simple terms, let me tell you what Amazon is.

What is Amazon?

Amazon (.com) is a great online retailer which resides mainly in Seattle, Washington. Amazon has customer services, and different companies across the globe. It is an online store where trades occur every moment - vast as it is, you can purchase through middlemen or directly! E-books, music, movies, electronics, and so on, are sold in Amazon and are greatly demanded by their numerous customers!

When Amazon started is similar to when it was founded?

Amazon was founded on 5 July 1994, Bellevue, Washington, United States. And then, it started. It started as a website that sells book, then it later increased in growth. Amazon grew fast, and reached the targeted audience like greased lightning. It started on July 5, 1994 and on December 1996, that's a little bit more than two years, it already won 180,000 customers. This was noticed in contradiction to others who started as well.

In October 1997, it has won 1,000,000 customers. That really sounds optimistic. They didn't involve any witchcraft activity, as many would think. Its creator, Jeff Bezos, had an optimistic mentality and uncompromising mindset, accompanied with a bright vision which he worked towards it and accomplished it. Let me tell you a little more about Jeff Bezos. He wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth, in fact, he grew in a poor home. His father was 18 years old while his mother was 17 years old. I think 'she' was impregnated. They traveled to Mexico and there, Jeff was born. Amazon has spread like wildfire in the desert, it has established itself in many countries. One of it is India.

When did Amazon start in India?

Amazon started in India on June, 2013. Amazon created their website 'Amazon.in' mainly for Indians to purchase items. Christian books, novels, movies and so on. Amazon sold to over 10,000 customers (Indian customers) on the very day they started.

When you ship Amazon products, it might take 5 - 7 working days before it arrives. Some might take a fortnight; it depends. Amazon has different shipping choices; you can choose a faster one, but it will be more expensive.
