Walt Disney is possibly one of the most recognized persons in American movie history. However, the majority of persons do not know that much about him, or about his life. This maestro of animation died of a tumor which was identified while preparing for a medical treatment.

Walt Disney an American motion-picture and television producer and showman, famous as a pioneer of animated cartoon films and as the creator of such cartoon characters as Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. He also planned and built Disneyland, a huge amusement park that opened near Los Angeles in 1955, and before his death he had begun building a second such park, Walt Disney World, near Orlando, Florida. The Disney Company he founded has become one of the world’s largest entertainment conglomerates.

Walt Disney Early Life.

On December 5, 1901, Walt Disney was born. Elias Disney and Flora Call Disney were his parents. Disney's family relocated to a rural farm in Missouri when he was a child. It was here that Disney began drawing and gained an interest in art.

One of the Disney family's neighbors compensated Walt for many of his paintings and commissioned him to do portraits of his horse. The Disney family relocated to Kansas City in 1911. Walt attended Benton Grammar School in this location.

He developed a close connection with Walter Pfeiffer. He was introduced to motion films and vaudeville by Walter. When he was a youngster, he began taking classes at the Kansas City Art Institute.

Walt was scheduled to have neck surgery in 1966, according to his doctor. This neck operation was intended to correct a long-standing polo injury that he had had. During the pre-surgical X-rays, it was revealed that Disney had a massive tumor on his lung, which was removed during the surgery. On December 15, 1966 (aged 65), he passed away.
