Where does the rainbow come from?

#arcoris Perhaps many of us have wondered why the rainbow.

And God added: “This is the sign of the covenant that I establish forever with you and with all the living beings that accompany you: I have placed my rainbow in the clouds, which will serve as a sign of my covenant with the earth. When I cover the earth with clouds, and in them the rainbow appears, I will remember the covenant that I have established with you and with all living beings. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all mortals”. Genesis 9:12-15, NIV

Did you notice that the rainbow appears in the sky out of nowhere, and in the same way it ceases to be present? It's something incredible and very nice to see, isn't it? The way the colors seem to combine in an arch that crosses the sky provides a wonderful and unique spectacle.

The colors form an arc always coming out of red, then orange, yellow, green, blue and shades of violet. There are 7 colors of the rainbow, as 7 are the days of the week, as 7 are the musical notes.

To build it, it is necessary that there are very small droplets of water dispersed in the air. Then there needs to be enough light and, of course, someone to admire it! All elements need to be in the right position and time to form the rainbow.

The sun needs to be low on the horizon, because white light travels a lot through the atmosphere and breaks down into strips. There water particles come into play, which help to separate white light as if it were a prism, into bands or frequencies. And so you can see the colors that make up the rainbow.

The Bible relates that the first to witness the formation of the rainbow were Noah and his family. Before the flood, it had never rained, and therefore the physical conditions for the formation of the rainbow had not been met. A kind of dew covered the earth, and no one had ever seen rain before the flood. Because of the evil of human beings, God decided to destroy the ancient world by the water of the flood.

However, when the flood passed, the rainbow appeared as a sign that God would never again destroy the planet through a flood. Now we are waiting for a new intervention from God, but this time it will be the Savior Jesus who will appear in the clouds, surrounded by a glorious rainbow.

Therefore, we must prepare ourselves to be ready for that great moment.
