Which way should we go?

#welke side do we have to go now that life hurts so much?

Last week we got a terrible message. My wife has colon cancer with metastases to her liver. Treatment could only be life-prolonging. My wife's sister had received the same message in September 2019. She's still alive, but that says little about my wife's life expectancy.
You understand that a message like that strikes the bottom beneath your feet.
Been at the internist last week and had a conversation with the chemo nurse. Also had a phone call with a colleague of my FACT team nurse. My FACT team nurse was on vacation this week. A pretty loaded week.
Then where do you get the strength to move on?
Despite all these problems, there's something inside me that keeps it all manageable.
That soothing power comes over me like a warm blanket.
For me, this is the power that comes from God in the person of the Holy Spirit.
It seems as if that Spirit is more present when you need Him.
Believe me, I've had times when I doubted God was still there for me. Fortunately not now.
In a conversation with the general practitioner we considered the choice not to do treatment. That would mean death would be there sooner. Then what do you choose? The long road or the shortcut. Are you going to battle, or are you gonna let it all happen? Of course, this should only be a choice for my wife. I'll help her go for her choice. One thing is certain we don't have to go through this alone. There's a song coming to mind:

If g' been in distress, see no outcome,
will never forget: God will not leave you.
Fear not distress, the Lord's allegiance is great,
And on the night dark, it follows morning red.
Clean storms rage, do not worry evil;
God will save you, your friend.

God continues to take care of you, good is the Lord
And with every morning, His goodness returns.
Clean g' in grief, nowhere sees outcome,
Greater than the Helper, the need is not.
What gave us, Savior in distress,
Save only our soul, out of sin' and death.
