Life is sometimes hard for those with success. #Linda Ronstadt, one of the most successful singers in America of the last century, has been suffering from a form of Parkinson's disease for years. The 73-year-old singer won no less than 10 Grammys and sold more than 100 million records, but had to say goodbye to her singing career.
The 'tribute' to Ronstadt performed Carrie Underwood, Trisha Yearwood, her former partner Aaron Neville and Emmylou Harris. The singer is known for numerous hits, such as Blue Bayou, Desperado, Love is a Rose, Long, Long Time and Silver Threads end Golden Needles. She also surprised by singing Spanish songs (Canciones de mi padre) about Mexico, the country where her father was born.
Dolly Parton, Linda Rondstadt, and Emmylou Harris have sold some 200 million albums worldwide. It is therefore no coincidence that when these three special votes joined, the trio dragged in as many as three Grammy Awards. The trio released a total of two albums: Trio 1 (1987) and Trio 2 (1999), which sold no less than 5 million albums together.
Linda Ronstadt faces a paralyzing disease that slowly deprives her of her ability to sing. Intrepid, Linda faces her illness with great courage, aided by her two dear friends. And, as Steve Pennells discovered, these three women have one last collaboration to share with their fans.
When Linda Ronstadt noticed that she was having trouble singing, she thought that the headphones she was using at that time were defective. “I couldn't hear the top of my voice. I couldn't hear the role I used to voice,” told the legendary artist in December with CNN's Anderson Cooper. “My throat would shut. It would be like I had cramps or something, 'she added and noticed that this was the moment when she realized that something was wrong with her health. That was in the year 2000, and by 2009 Ronstadt was preparing for what she knew would be her last show. It was in San Antonio, Texas, and she sang songs from her 1987 album “Canciones de Mi Padre”, which is a tribute to her Mexican origin. To her own surprise she also succeeded that same year with an album full of Mexican songs. In the nineties she combines Mexican/Latin American work with the poprock work that the general public knows her from.
