The first Dutch Indies (Dutch Indo) band to successfully enter the international music scene in the fifties. They were one of the pioneers of rock and roll in the Netherlands and later became famous in Europe for playing a kind of rock and roll, later #Indorock , a fusion of Indonesian and Western music with roots in Kroncong.

The Tielman Brothers. Reggy (1933-2014), Ponthon (1934-2000), Andy (1936-2011) and Loulou (1938-1994). They were born in Indonesia, which was then called Dutch Indies. The general public gets acquainted with them in 1960. Although, a big audience? Our country then has about 600,000 television sets registered with PTT, about 30% of households have one. A remarkable band in the line-up of two guitars (Reggy and Andy), double bass (Ponthon) and drums (Loulou). Almost sixty years later, it's still a party to see. To speak with guitarist Jan de Hont (at the time seventeen years, later known from ZZ & The Masks among others): 'It was musically fantastic, rhythmically it was inciting and it looked good, and that added acrobatics. ' Most newspapers were a lot less enthusiastic about this gig. The Netherlands clearly had to get used to this music and even more so to its performance.
