ray kroc wifewho is ray krocWhen, in the real world, this is a false name, the McDonald's Brothers actually founded the McDonald's. What Ray Kroc was doing was transforming the fast food industry. In fact it would be safe to say that you have changed the whole retail industry and the way products were and still are on the market today.
There is a funny anecdote about Ray. At an early age his father took him to a person who said they could predict the future. The man revealed that young Ray Kroc will one day be in the food industry. Lucky guess, that depends on you, but it's an exciting story anyway.
The most important part of the story is what led this young man to become the king of fast food chains and the leader of a new market delivery system called franchising. You see, he was always a businessman, and even in elementary school he already had lemonade.
Like many children of his generation, Ray worked his way up the school, but found himself losing interest in his studies and eventually wanting to take up a sales job. What happened next was the beginning of a path that would lead him to his well-known role as founder of McDonald's, a franchise organization.
Ray's Strength Changed McDonald's History
From the first sales pitch, it became clear that the young man was determined to succeed. Ray had the qualities a businessman needed to succeed. He was determined:
1) Work any hours you take to succeed.
2) Do whatever it takes.
3) Understand the importance of delivering quality product.
4) Make sure he took care of the needs of his clients.
5) Read and understand his market so you can discover new and unique opportunities.
While all of these things seem to be a good foundation for success, it is amazing how few people are willing to do what it takes to be truly successful. But Ray Kroc discovered and lived on these six daily aspects of his career. Therefore, it is not surprising when he discovers a great new product that can handle five milkshakes at a time and exactly how new it can be marketed.

As the Multimixer business began to slow down, Ray was surprised by the large order from a few brothers in San Bernardino, California. By this time, most of his soda source customers had begun to close. But this start-up restaurant was ordering enough mixes to make about 40 milkshakes at a time.
Given his marketing nose, Kroc, decided he should investigate this unique activity, especially as he debates the challenges in a changing market. So when he met the McDonald brothers in California, he saw an operation that he had never done before. He immediately saw why the idea would work.
1) It was easy, they didn't have many menu items.
2) It was easy to repeat, it just needed someone to write the process.
3) There were chances of having better jeans, due to the simplicity and low overhead.
4) Implement the integration line process to make food, provide customers with fast service, consistent and good product.
5) It was less expensive then some dine out options.
Being the driver he was, Ray, he was able to figure out how to perform the operation and not repeat it hundreds of times. While the McDonald brothers had a good idea, they did not have Ray's opinion. So instead of getting involved, they were willing to give him exclusive rights to sell McDonald's program and franchise operations.
In his first year Ray sold 18 franchises and since then the rest is history. McDonald's is one of the most successful franchise projects ever, making Ray Kroc one of the most successful businessmen of the 20th century.
