Why am I studying French at the university?

The French language attracts me not only as a means of getting more profitable work or communication while traveling in the future. I am attracted by the French civilization as a whole with its customs, traditions, with its rich cultural past and present ... and the French language has become for me the key that unlocks the doors to this wonderful world, that access code, without which it is impossible to fully understand France.

Even before school, I was fascinated by the fairy tales of Charles Perrault. In the first grade, I started learning Russian letters in parallel with French. In elementary school, since the Adventures of Little Nicolas and the Cri-Kri cricket, I began to get involved in French literature. France is a country about which I gathered information mainly from fiction. It is impossible to imagine all its versatility only from textbooks, where there are many dry purely statistical banal phrases. I could really feel it in the novels of French writers who showed me the country from the inside: everyday life, people's customs, social problems of a particular era. On a trip to Paris and its suburbs, I more than once went on the pages of A. Dumas, V. Hugo, E. Zola, O. de Balzac, E. Triolet.
