#science Why do balloons fly?
Balloons fly because they are lighter than the air around them. Hot air is lighter than cold air, and if we heat the air inside a balloon, it will rise.
Some balloons are filled with gases such as helium, which are lighter than air.
Hot air balloons contain air heated by a gas burner. The balloon floats dragged by wind currents. To bring the balloon down, the pilot turns off the burner. The air inside the balloon cools down and becomes heavier.
It's quite interesting how a balloon flies.
