Why every young person should have a CJP pass
I have had a CJP pass in my possession for nine years. This started in 2011, in the seventh grade of high school. We all got a CJP Culture Card through school. That would give you a discount in shops, at the cinema and other things. Everyone thought, “It must be.” The card always stayed somewhere in a drawer, nobody used the pass. That's how I was. Until I really started to see the benefits of this card in the fourth grade. Unfortunately, my CJP Cultuurkaart expired since 30 June 2018, because I took final exams. That same day I ordered a CJP pass. For €23.50 I can advance the next two years! But what can you do with such a CJP pass? What are the benefits of this? And why should every young person have a CJP pass? In this blog I will tell you all about it!
Please note that the shops and heights of discounts that I mention in this blog can change. The stores and discounts in this blog were last updated on 27 April 2020.
Who is the CJP Pass for?
In principle, the CJP pass is there for everyone up to 30 years. So for the youngsters, actually.
For teenagers and young people who are still in high school, there is the CJP Cultuurkaart. This is free for the students. Also on the MBO there is a special CJP card, the CJP MBO card. This one is free for them as well.
For anyone up to 30 years of age who is no longer in high school and who is not in MBO, there is the CJP pass. This pass costs €17,50 per year (currently there is an action which makes the pass 13.50 per year), but if you close the pass for 2 years it is cheaper. In addition, when your Culture Card expires, you will receive a discount code for the CJP pass. You can also choose a welcome gift when closing your CJP card, which also includes a discount. I closed my CJP card for 2 years, used my discount code from the Culture Card and chose as a welcome gift for a discount. So I will be provided with a CJP discount for only €23.50 for the next 2 years.

What can you do with the CJP pass?
With the CJP card you can get a discount. Lots of discount, on a lot of different things. For example, you can get discounts at various museums, festivals and cinemas, at almost all Dutch theatres and pop stages, at some libraries, at magazine subscriptions, at workshops, on tutoring and exam training, on transport, on study equipment, on musicals and at various shops! In short, you can do a lot with a CJP pass. They also have a website called cashback.cjp.nl, where you can create an account with your CJP card. If you order something via the cashback website, you will get the money back to your account. Occasionally there are win-promotions, where you have a chance to win tickets for a festival.
Recently, however, the pass is only digital (via the app), the plastic card has been banned.
