Why Should You Customize Your WordPress Dashboard?

You do not want your client's first experience with their WordPress website to be confusing because of the crowded dashboard.

This is where customization comes into play to give a more personalized touch to the dashboard upholding the user experience.

This post will discuss why you should customize your WordPress dashboard, how to do so yourself, and some examples of plugins that help with this process.

Customize the Login Page

The best way to begin is by login page customization, just as the companies that provide wordpress website development services with their WordPress website do.

You may have noticed that when you log into WordPress, there's no information about who owns it or what kind of site it is. It's just a blank slate with a username and password field on the top of it.

One way to customize this part of your site is by adding some custom content, such as text or graphics, that will make visitors feel more welcome once they enter their username and password into their browser window (or mobile device).

For example:

Add one or two lines of text telling people why they should use this particular website over another one instead of just showing them an advertisement every time someone logs in from another location without any explanation whatsoever.

Customizing the Admin Bar

The admin bar is a menu at the top of your screen and contains links to common administration pages. You can customize it by adding or removing links, menus or both.

If you want to add more items to this menu, go into Appearance > Menus and add as many as you like.

If you want to remove some items from this menu, go into Appearance > Widgets and click on an existing widget so that it turns grayed out (see image below). Then click on "Delete Widget" from within Settings > Widgets section of the dashboard where all widgets appear; this will delete your current widget entirely but keep its settings intact just in case there are any changes needed down the road.

The WordPress Admin Sidebar is the front page of your website, where you can see stats and manage content. You can customize this sidebar to add new menu items and widgets or remove menu items and widgets.

To add a new menu item:

Click on Appearance > Widgets in the WordPress Admin Menu Bar (see screenshot below).

Select any widget you want to add as a new menu item on your site's sidebar. You may also change its position by dragging it around with your mouse cursor until it appears within an appropriate place on your site's sidebar.

The main admin page is where you'll find all your WordPress settings and options. To customize this page, we recommend adding widgets to either side.

You can also add widgets anywhere on the top or bottom of your screen.

Customizing the WordPress Admin Sidebar Using a Plugin

The WordPress Admin Sidebar is the area on your dashboard where you can access all of your plugins and settings. You can also add some extra functionality to this area by installing plugins in WordPress.

There are many different ways, according to the developer who provides WordPress website development services, that you can customize this sidebar, but one popular way is using a plugin.

Several good options out there will help you give yourself more control over what's displayed in this area of your site when visiting it from within the dashboard itself.
