WHY YOU SHOULDN'T START A SIDE HUSTLE?
#Thoughtprovoking When people hear the phrase "doing a side hustle," they may think of someone who works part-time to supplement their income. Some people see a person who works from home or an office performing some sort of freelancing employment. They may even be envious of someone who works with their hands or as a salesperson since they have the freedom to work whenever they want and generate money. Yes, this does sound fantastic! However, I would want to point out that there are certain disadvantages to operating a side hustle that should be addressed before jumping into one. We will go through each one of them step by step.
Disadvantages of starting a side hustle
They rob us of too much time with our family- When you're working on a side business, it's easy to feel burned out. It's critical not to let a side hustle consume our entire existence. This may require us to work harder or for longer periods than we would want. This might lead to us not seeing our family or friends as much as we would want, missing out on family occasions, or failing to look after ourselves (eating enough, getting enough sleep, and exercising). We do things on our side hustles that we would never do otherwise, and it's fine if some of them take up a lot of time. However, anything in moderation will improve your life!
They wreak havoc on our health- A side hustle is part-time employment or business endeavor that we pursue pleasure, extra cash, or become financially independent. Even though a side business is entertaining and provides additional income, we should not do it at the expense of our health. We all know we're not going to get 8 hours of sleep every night, especially if we have a family and have a side business. We shouldn't, however, merely obtain 4 hours of sleep every night! We should continue to work out while doing our side business, in addition to sleeping. Working out, contrary to popular belief, may make us more productive and allow us to accomplish more than if we attempted to work all of the time. Even 20 minutes of exercise can help us be more effective with our side business.
They are not well paid-We sometimes engage in side hustles solely for the sake of making money. We're either trying to pay off debt or just need the extra cash to get by. If this is the case for you, keep in mind that your hourly rate should be taken into consideration when considering your side hustle. If my side business is working at a bookshop two blocks from my house, for example, I can devote more time to it each month and earn more money. If my side job is driving for Uber 30 hours a week at $5 per hour, I'll have to put in a lot more effort to get successful at finding customers, and I could only make $100 after gas expenditures. The idea is that as long as we love our side hustle and can make money doing it, it's a win-win situation.
They distract from other life objectives- Sometimes we do things that truly assist us in achieving our life goals. For example, if we enjoy traveling, we may sign up for reward credit cards to let us travel for less. Maybe we're aspiring to be realtors, so we tag along with a mentor to house showings. If we want to have the finest marriage possible, we could study a lot of books about marriage. Whatever we do, the way we spend our time should be in line with some of our life's major objectives. We often put too much emphasis on our side hustles and lose sight of our long-term aspirations.
