Wim Suurbier died Sunday. The Ajax icon and sixty times Orange International, which was struck by a cerebral hemorrhage at the end of April, became 75 years old.

Suurbier was found at his house on 25 April by his ex-wife. Since then, he was in intensive care at the VUMC in Amsterdam.

Suurbier was one of the important players of Ajax in the glory days of the Amsterdam people in the seventies of the last century. He played 509 official matches for Ajax between 1964 and 1977 and won the European Cup I three times, the World Cup for clubs and seven times the national title.

The striking right-back came to sixty international for the Dutch team, placing him in the 37th place of the eternal ranking. He competed in the lost World Cup finals against West Germany and Argentina respectively in 1974 and 1978.

Suurbier ended career at the age of 42
