#history In the Middle Ages, Christian ideology imbues social and political relations, leading to the confusion of sin with crime. Social relations are sacred and for women, knowledge will remain limited to the domestic universe, those that are acquired in the house, together with the mother, those who maintain and safeguard Christian homes. Girls are granted incomplete and heavily guarded knowledge. The destiny of women, of the majority, is to learn at home, in the mother's lap, everything that concerns the daily life of a mother: cooking, caring for the house, handling yarn, needles, wool, fabrics. In the countryside, bird care must be added to these indoor works, but, both in the countryside and in the city, when the couple mobilizes for the same task - be it agricultural, commercial or craft - the little one starts in the family activity. For some, the house becomes the center of professional learning. Female destiny, subject to vital reproductive function, conditions the resources invested in girls' education. They must be mothers, and since they will be mothers, they must be instilled in them, so that they transmit the religious and moral values that found the social body. Most Renaissance women ended up being mothers, and motherhood was their profession and identity.
