Woodhenge the tree circle of Meers
Woodhenge, Tree Circle van Meers
Near us, in Limburg, there is a special place to be found. Woodhenge is located in the small village of Meers, a tree monument consisting of fifteen fossil forest mowers (2000 years old) erect. The ancient trees were found during the gravel extraction in the Meuse Valley and were underwater for a long time, so that they were cooled and slowly tarnished. The trees are arranged relative to each other and to the sun in such a way that they mark special days such as 21 June and 21 December. You can also read the four directions of the wind and the location of the surrounding villages. All the trees are in a winding line, which follows the course of the Meuse anno 2000. We come to this place regularly, and we like to be there. In the area cows and (wild) horses run freely. Which means that sometimes you can't get to the old tree trunks because they are standing there or walking. This again makes this place special.

Fifteen wrouds, some 2000 years old, form the basis of this spectacular monument along the mesh.

All these trees are positioned at the same time in such a way that they mark the course of the meander of the meander meander around the monument.
In the middle one has placed a flat Maaskei with explanations about the positioning of the trees.
