#HAVEZATEDEEESE 😍 Yesterday afternoon (8-11-2020) I went out to #Heerlijkheid The #Eese . In my youth years I spent a lot on this estate and I wanted to see it again. #Koning In his youth, Willem Alexander built many a party in #Havezate TheEese and that was no secret in Steenwijk and surroundings. Unfortunately, you can't get close to it these days. The photo is zoomed in with smartphone and therefore a bit grainy.
The Eese (also 'De Ehze') is an estate with havezate, largely located in the north-east corner of the Overijsselse municipality of Steenwijkerland with a small part in the municipality of Westerveld and a very small part in the Frisian municipality of Weststellingwerf. The largest part, about 800 ha, is owned by the Van Karnebeek family. A smaller part has been sold by this family to Staatsbosbeheer in the past. The Eese country estate has been recognized as a national monument since 2006. Among the protected areas are, according to the National Cultural Heritage Service, the house 'De Eese', the historic garden and park landscaping, the hunting lodge and farm 'St. Hubert', a farm, the wooden mansion, the steward's house with barn, the carriage house annex garage and horse stable and an agricultural barn.
