On Monday was yet another new beginning for Renesmee - it was her first official day of school. She had spent all of her free time during the weekend discussing with her family what to expect during her first public school experience.

Some of her family members were perplexed by her decision, stating that she would be bored to death since they had taught her most of the material. But the youngest member insisted she still had so much to learn. Her grandparents and parents supported her decision, knowing it was for the best. Renesmee couldn't stay locked behind four walls for the rest of her existence. She needed to see the real world. And they were more than glad that she was acknowledging this.

"Oh, how I wish Mel went to the same school!", Renesmee sighed dreamily and then sharply turned her head to face her parents, "Perhaps I should have joined the charter school instead?"

Her parents were quick to insist that it would be okay and that she had made the right decision, having researched the charter school themselves.

Renesmee had barely slept the night before her first day. Afraid she would feel tired during the school day, she filled her thermos with warm coffee and had more with her breakfast.

"Renesmee! Don't drink so much coffee! You won't be able to sleep tonight!", scolded her Bella. The last thing she wanted was for her daughter to ruin her sleeping schedule right after beginning the new school year.

The hybrid chuckled, "Chillax, Mom, I'll be fine!" and left for school all by herself. Her family, even Jacob, had proposed to take her to school, but she had refused, wanting to learn the route to her new school. Besides, she felt that it would be too embarrassing to be brought to school by chaperones. She was sure none of her new classmates would be driven by their parents or older friends that didn't even attend any of the schools nearby.

On the way to her new school, as she was sipping coffee from her thermos and listening to music, she could see groups of teens walking in the same direction as her. Impulsively, Renesmee decided to ditch the earbuds and to join them. Perhaps she could make some new friends?

As she joined a conversation with her new classmates, she found out that she wasn't the only new student that semester. Somehow, it made her feel calmer. And having made a good decision at the beginning of the day, she didn't need her aunt Alice to tell that she was going to have a successful first day of school.

By the end of the day, Renesmee had met many new people, including most of the new students in her grade, had tried (and had liked) the food that had been served at lunchtime and had to finish a bunch of essays to work on that were due the following week.

So far, school seemed much better than what she had been told by her family and Jacob. Renesmee could barely wait for the evening to come to chat with Mel and to spill all of the details about the first day.

What she didn't expect was to be invited over at her house during the weekend.
