Writing The Book




Start a site on WordPress or Tumblr, and use that to type out a chapter or scene of your book one chapter or scene at a time. Now that you have an outline of your book and the structure, it is time to get started with the writing. Instead of wondering what to write in the next chapter of your book, you will already have a sense of how you should begin your books outline. Now, you will know exactly which topics you want to write about, and you know what points you want to make in each chapter of your book.



By choosing one format or framework for the topics of your book, you can keep your outline organized in a way that is useful as you begin writing each chapter. Your outline is your books framework, so it is incredibly important. Once you have an outline, remember that it is a living document meant to serve you and your book. After you write a one-page outline, write out a table of contents that will guide your writing, and then split each chapter up into multiple sections.



Write the thesis of your book as one sentence, then expand it into one paragraph, and then a one-page outline. Just keep focused on your book, and over time, your writing will improve. Once you come up with the idea, you are going to want to develop good writing habits in order to make your book a reality.



Whichever strategy you decide on, the essential part of learning to write a great book is taking one step at a time. Do not even begin to write until you are sure that your structure holds up over the long haul. If you begin writing without structure, the process will drag on forever, and the result will be messy and incomplete. You cannot do the second draft and begin making your book really good, really marketable, until you have written your first draft.



Once you have passed your beginning, you get momentum for finishing your first book, eventually publishing your book. If you go into writing prepared, you should have a finished manuscript in just a couple of months. Worse, having no outline will usually result in you not finishing the book at all.



Even when you have got a solid plan, proven system, and a detailed outline, you may still be stuck with some of these sneaky book writing obstacles. Many would-be authors fall into a trap that says they have to plan the whole book -- with all of the chapters laid out, with all the questions answered -- before they ever start writing. Way too many authors come to writing their book with a firm idea about how their story needs to begin... but their middles are vague, and their endings are lacking. Some authors choose to have an in-depth outline, one well-developed from beginning to end, whereas others barely have an outline at all, choosing instead to allow the book to unfold as they write.
