Today in the Yoors Flowerparade once no photos of their own.
The pictures of the flower of the day are made by Oud-Yoorslid FrutselenindeMarge, thanks that I can use them for this post!

Today's flower is the Passion Flower, or Passieflora.
A well-known summer bloomer, which can be found in many gardens. A real sun worshipper, who is not completely hardy, so if you want to keep it over, you have to pack it in the winter.

There are more than 500 species of Passionflowers.
Originally they come from America and the Caribbean.

There is a legend about the Passion Flower, that missionaries used the flower to convey the crucifixion story of Jesus.
In the leaves they saw references to ten of the twelve apostles, the three pistils the nails with which Jesus was nailed to the cross, the corona the wreath of thorns of Jesus, and the blue would refer to Heaven, or Mary's garment. (Source: Wikipedia).

The Passionflower loves sun and warmth, and when she likes it it produces large fruits, which turn yellow when ripe. The fruits are very bitter and not recommended to eat, whether they are poisonous is not entirely clear, opinions differ on them.

Dear Frutsel, this post is for you, just today.
You know why!
