Today in the flower parade: Lathyrus, also called flaunting pea, or smelling pea.
The most famous Lathyrus is the annual, which you sow in spring, and then blooms in high summer (the white one in the photo).
It's a climber, who's happy if you give him a fence, or a piece of gauze to grow up against.

The funny thing about the annual Lathyrus is that: the more you pluck (cut), the more she will bloom.
This annual is therefore excellent as a cut flower.
I have often encountered them as a small bush in the bedroom in various holiday resorts.

In addition to the annual, there is also a fixed variant of the Lathyrus (in the photo below the pale pink).
And in the Netherlands there is the Knollathyrus, a plant that is on the red list, because there are only so few of them.
I think I hit this one during a holiday in Friesland, but I'm not quite sure (the purple version on the pictures).

There are about 120 species of Lathyrus, and they all bloom exuberantly.
Some species are poisonous, so be careful if you want to pick the flowers.
I would advise you: if you want Lathyrus to puke: sow your own plants!
