Yoors Flower parade, day 53
Today a nice flower, or better plant in the Flowerparade.
This plant is planted in (mus-) gardens, but you also see it a lot in the wild.
I'm talking about the Burr (or Rubes).
There are many varieties of blackberries, the different species are hardly distinguishable.
The cultivated blackberries are now plugless.
These are crossings of various species.
Blackberries are wild bushes, which bear fruit in autumn, from August.
Everyone knows them: those bushes along the side of the road, with those spines that you can hook into.
But those nasty spines only serve to protect the plant.
Animals like cows like blackberries and eat it.
The burr protects itself by the spines, so that it can grow further.
In the meantime, she gives beautiful open flowers, pollinated by bees and bumblebees.
And the consequence of this pollination?
Blackberries! Delicious sweet fruits, juicy.
We picked blackberries several times this summer, and made jam from it, we now enjoy it.
Please note that it is not officially allowed to pick more than one supermarket box.
The burr multiplies because the branches that touch the ground take root.
If you do not prune a burr properly, you will have a huge bush in no time.

mijn opa en oma hadden een hele grote tuin met fruitbomen en langs het pad stonden allemaal struiken met rode bessen en bramen. Ik liep altijd bij de bramen te loeren of er al een rijpe tussen zat. In de winkel koop ik ze nooit best gek eigenlijk. Ik wist niet dat je langs de weg niet meer dan een supermarkt bakje mag plukken.
