Today is September 21, World Alzheimer's Day.
Which flower is better suited to place on this that than the forget-me-not.
Definate name Myosotis, I like forget-me-not.
I don't forget it's the symbol for Alzheimer's, the name explains why.
Forget-me-nots bloom in spring, and there are many kinds of them.
Almost everyone knows the blue forget-me-not, but did you know that they can also be pink or white?
They sometimes discolor spontaneously, I haven't been able to figure out what it's about.
As far as I know, it's not a separate species.
The most famous forget-me-staples are perennials, which love a slightly damp soil.
However, annual species also exist.
They do it in the sun, but also in the half-shade.
Forget-me-nots sow themselves, but don't proliferate.
They could have just disappeared from your garden.
I think they're cute, and the symbolism behind them is beautiful!
Wikipedia tells two legends that I would like to mention here:
- In the Middle Ages, a soldier was walking with his lover, in his hand a bunch of forget-me-nots. He fell in the water, assaulting his armor. He threw the flowers at his beloved and cried: Do not forget me! Since then, the flowers have symbolized eternal fidelity.
According to a Greek legend, God was done naming all the plants. There was another blue flower with no name, and it shouted, “Don't forget me.” That's your name, God said.
Forget me staples: I have them in the garden, even though they were gone last spring.
So I drove to my parents, where I could pick up a new pol.
I often dry them in the flower press, and then make them keychains or jewelry, full of symbolism.
However, the most beautiful they are just in the garden, full of bloom.

wat een interessant verhaal over dit bloempje. Ze zijn wel schattig en zo te zien zeer geschikt voor een sleutelhanger. Toen ik met pensioen ging kreeg ik van mijn collega's een Pandora armbandje met een vergeet-me-nietje als slotje.
