Bamboo grows twenty times as fast as the trees in the boreal forests, according to Greenpeace's report. In addition, paper wipes made from bamboo provide thirty percent less greenhouse gas emissions than the same products made from wood chips.

According to the NRDC, it is important to make sure that the toilet paper has an FSC label. If this is not the case, there is a chance that the bamboo comes from a region where a forest has been cut down to plant bamboo.
