Unfortunately, the origins of this work come like many other stories, from the Nazi Holocaust. John Boyne wanted to capture drama, evil and a lesson in one book. The innocence of a child his age who thinks they are farmers, when they are actually the Jews imprisoned in the camp. Tired of being alone in his new house without any friends to play with, he will explore the surrounding area and through a wire fence to Samuel, with which he begins a friendship. Without his parents knowing anything about it, Bruno goes to play and bring food to his new friend every day, while he tells him the story of how he got there.
