My final project

It's time. I started my final project and I'm taking you along with my journey and progress of this series of photos. #fotografie #autisme

What's my photo series about?

As you can see from the title, I've decided to do my photo series about myself. A while ago, I wrote a few blogs about Autism and that I have autism. This time, I'm going to make a series of photos about this, and I'm doing it using self-portraits and metaphorical images.

I want to photograph my self-portraits in a natural environment. In these pictures I show a part of myself, the other half is covered by different things from that environment. I cover half of myself to visually show that when they find out I have autism, they often only see me like that. People seem to forget I'm more than that. From my own experience I notice that autism quickly limits you to search for a job. Because of this, I don't show myself completely to everyone. I only share with the people I can really trust that I have autism and only then can I show myself completely.

This series of photos I will give the name 'Unseen', because I often feel misunderstood and excluded. With this series, I want to show what it does to me, when people put me in a box. I also hope to speak for a larger group with this series, that every person with autism is more than just 'Autistic'. For me, the main thing is that the judgment about autism also gets a more positive touch. In the end, we are normal people with their own personality, interests and hobbies. And I hope that in future I will also have to worry less and less about these bad judgments and discrimination. Today I started taking the pictures and found it a nice idea to share my progression with you and how I'm going to do all this.

Start of the photo series

Today I started taking the pictures and found it a nice idea to share my progression with you and how I'm going to do all this.
I went outside and started what I saw in the area.

We get feedback from our teachers from time to time and it may always be that the images are missing something. As a result, I finally get top quality of my images. In this journey I will show you which images I will use in the end, which images I make but still do not come into the series. These pictures are certainly not the end result yet.

Mooie fotos.
Goodluck to your project and sharing it to the community.
This is a wonderful project and beautifully executed. It is also important, because by showing yourself as you are you might encourage someone else to do the same. Not only those who have autism but also anyone who feels excluded and "unseen" for whatever reason that might be. Thank you for sharing!
@Adriana Thank you! That's really nice to hear 😊
