An impossible but very funny football match: tribute to Neville Gabie
Readers friends I went back to talking about football by showing you another makeshift football field that I painted inspired by the photographic works of Neville Gabie in his book "Posts". Today we are in Poland there is a closed street and on the back wall the soccer goal was painted with white paint, the kids chose this space because on the sides there seem to be the doors of some boxes and the ball cannot go out on the road and go among the cars,
It looks like it snowed, the ground could be slippery but just for this funnier, the wall is high and someone drew writing on the wall, maybe to make it look like a real stadium, don't you see the players? Now I'll tell you a story, do you remember my story from a few days ago, when I met a ghost playing the saxophone inside a forgotten house? I came back to bring him the chocolate as he requested and so he, being a ghost, read my mind and asked me if he could invite some of his friends to play football on the football field I had painted.
-Hey Mario you told me you play the saxophone and read books, can you also play football?
-yes, with some of my friends we have a team.
-A team of ghosts?
-Oh yes.
-Don't be sly, are they former champions?
-No, they are simple people who like football and want to have fun, so you make me play this game
-Ok, go down on the playing field but please play sporty and loyally, do not take advantage of the fact that you are ghosts if you lose do not disappear taking away the ball.
-Walter don't worry we play for fun, but can we have more chocolate later?
-Hey but won't it hurt you?
-We need to laugh so much and we like chocolate.
-I think I can't tell all this around.
-Oh yes of course you can, then let's go?
And so I took this team of ghosts to Poland in the football field that I had painted, it had snowed but the field was passable in the field two teams were lined up, on one side the kids with red cheeks and short trousers, they had the who does not want to lose, on the other side a team of ghosts, some were old, others a little less, it must be said, it was really a team of rookies but they wanted to have fun and after all they did not want to lose too, they would have it put everything to make a good impression.
-Ok, guys let's put the ball in the center and start the game, at the end hot chocolate for everyone.
-Hey Walter do you want to be a referee?
-I don't think about it at all! play alone, you don't need a referee and then I want to enjoy the game!
The game began, the two teams faced each other as if they were playing the champion league final, the laughter mingled with the incitements to pass the ball, even some bad words for a wrong pass or for a hard hit received, everyone ran carefree with the only goal of winning and having fun, the Polish kids were stronger but the ghosts every now and then did a few small strokes of magic, the goals were no longer counted and the game was always tied. The game lasted a long time and ended only when a little boy kicked the ball so high that it reached the sky and as if by magic that balloon hit the moon which lit up and made all the most beautiful stars light up, the sky was full of stars and it was beautiful, in front of this show everyone stopped to play and turned their noses up with great joy.
-Hey Walter, we finished the game, we made even and we had a lot of fun, now can you bring us some chocolate?
-Sure, I'm coming ... don't you want hot tea before?
-No, please just chocolate and ... some cookies too, hurry up we're hungry!
-Friends readers now there is a problem, please do not blurt out, while I was watching the game I took all the chocolate for me, can any of you help me?
-Hey guys on the football field, I ordered the chocolate by phone, it's on its way.

This is a beautiful and sensible tribute. I truly appreciated the way you recreated the photo, giving it a more romantic touch (maybe the grey-blue, the ground looking like the waves of the sea...). Thank you for introducing me to the work of Neville Gabie. As far as I understand, the posts project is still ongoing, right?
