There is something about the African sky that just could never be made up. You have to see it to understand the beauty of it.
This evening during our walk, the 4 of us stood for a while just taking it in.
In a country with so many issues, that have caused people to immigrate to different parts of the world in huge numbers especially in the last 2 years, while many others contemplate whether to leave or stay (such as our family). I looked at the sun and the clouds above us and was reminded about my favourite poem in the whole world. I have read it hundreds of times and still get teary eyed every time I read it or hear it. So tonight I thought  I should share the poem with you.

AFRICA SMILED
written by Bridget Dore in 1995 (dedicated to Nelson Mandela)

Africa smiled a little
When you left.
"We know you," Africa said,
"We have seen and watched you,
We can learn to live without you,
But we know we needn't yet."

And Africa smiled a little
When you left
"You cannot leave Africa," Africa said.
"It is always with you,
There inside your head."

And Africa smiled a little.
"Our rivers run in currents
In the swirl of your thumbprints;
Our drumbeats
Counting out your pulse,
Our coastline,
The silhouette of your soul."

So Africa smiled a little
When you left
"We are in you,"Africa said.
"You have not left us, yet."
