If what I have in my hands was a book, I would write a review. But what I have in my hands is not a book, it is something more and something less, it is a unique piece. The author, @w.festuccia , defines it as an "animated book", I consider it a precious gift received from a friend. There is only one copy of this book, since Walter produces one at a time; it is written, illustrated, painted and bound by hand, it is a set of creativity agglomerated in the same artifact. Book as an object, therefore, as an artistic work not only made up of written words.
The content is just one of many aspects, and consists of ten short stories that have flowers as their topic: field, city, Christmas etc. In reality they are pretexts to talk about love of life, solidarity, needs, nature, beauty. The characters are ordinary people, popular figures who meet on the street, on a bench, at the market. The language in which they are expressed is Roman, and in this the author gives his best, compared to the texts in the national language.
The book is "animated" because, as the author himself says, inside there is the soul of the person who wrote it and because it presupposes an interaction with the reader, who has spaces left blank especially for him, where to write down his thoughts and impressions.
A tactile, visual pleasure that comes from the colors of the cover, from the drawings, from the collages, from the rustle of paper, from the ink of the pen, from the attached bookmarks. In short, more than a collection of stories about flowers, a real all-round sensory experience.

Now to return to handmade books, I can say that making them is fun and a bit tiring, obviously everything that is done by hand is tiring but this type of work also gives a lot of satisfaction, what drives me to do these works is the fact that I am convinced of the value of things done manually, I am convinced that in the future technology will replace manual skills, if on the one hand it is comfortable and it is impossible to prevent progress, on the other hand the human being could forget how to use your hands and your head, what about your imagination? of creativity? of genius? Maybe I'm wrong and I'm too conditioned by science fiction movies, ok, I'll stop here and thank you with a warm hug for mentioning me.
