Art Nouveau - short and violent
Art Nouveau (Art Nouveau) was a popular art movement between 1890 and 1914. It was “New Art” with a very short flowering period, but very intense. You saw it everywhere, in buildings, furniture, printed fabrics and objects. There is also funny talk about the salad oil style, or the spaghetti style. What you see a lot is ornaments, plant and flower motifs and bird motifs. The main source of inspiration is nature!

In the Art Nouveau style you see many lilies, chalices, irises, rose buds and poppy bulbs, all with long graceful stems. But so also beautiful long thin birds such as swans and peacocks. Dragonflies, the egg shape, natural forms of water, clouds and rocks were also common. And, of course, combined with long thin female figures.

Themoved lines were the most important elements. Print could also have all kinds of shapes and sizes, as long as it fits in the whole. The letters from that period still inspire many calligraphers every day. Do you find Art Nouveau inspiring too?
