Bye all,
I don't have such good news.
For 4 weeks ago I made a post with (I'm afraid) > > > https://yoo.rs/ik-ben-bang?Ysid=171468
Four weeks ago, our Dog Boris, our great Saint Bernard dog, had his first epileptic seizure.
You can read that in the previous blog.
That was already very startled back then. But this morning it happened again.
I got off bed and, like usual, put fresh water and new chunks in his bowl and put it outside. The weather is nice so it can be there and there he can mess with water as much as he wants.
I went to the bathroom and then put on my coat and had only just grabbed his belt and want to walk out behind the house and yes there he had another attack.
This was really another 5 minute attack.
What a terrible thing to see. I woke up my guy and he sat down with him and stroked him over his head until he woke up again.
After a few minutes, he recovered well and barked at us again. We first left him alone and still called the vet again, because that was the agreement that if it happened again within 1 month, we would report it immediately.
It took them a while to pick up the phone, but I was nicely spoken to by our own veterinary assistant. She explained everything to me well and we left him alone first.
She did indicate that it was now time for Boris to take blood tests on an empty stomach to see where these seizures would come from and should therefore be looked at as the Secondary Epilepsy
is or so Primary epilepsy.
Below I tell you exactly what it is, those two types .
Secondary epilepsy:
Secondary epilepsy is when the seizures are caused by identifiable other disorders in the body.
This includes serious liver and kidney diseases, too low sugar levels in the blood, brain disorders (infections and tumors) but also poisonings.
In fact, all animals of all ages can suffer from secondary epilepsy, but given the problems, usually in old age .
Primary epilepsy:
Primary epilepsy is the real epilepsy that we also know in humans.
In primary epilepsy, seizures occur without an apparent cause elsewhere in the body.
We therefore speak of primary epilepsy if we have found no identifiable causes through studies. In most cases, we see first attacks occurring at 1-6 years of age. However, we also often see that the first attacks are missed by the owner and that in old age, the first attacks seem to occur.
Both types of Epilepsy are very common in the Saint Bernard Dog.
But to come back to just the blood pricking that boris has to do on an empty stomach is already going to cost us €130 euros.
The vet assistant said as soon as you have received your money that it had to be done very quickly. But that I also have to take into account that he comes on Medication, which is not very cheap either.
It's going to be a best cost plate and I'll do all that for him, but I can tell you, this is going to be very tight for us because we only have a minimum wage.
I am now trying to make money everywhere in various ways and see that I can build up a nice game for him as soon as possible.
He's almost 5 years old now and we're not letting him go yet. The vet had no intention of doing that either.
But my heart cries very loudly because it is my buddy, my everything that is always with me. Where I am, he is too and you just really don't want to miss it yet.
The fright is good and he behaves like a real puppy again, because that's how he wants to be treated. The blows he gets every time is not easy for him and I have the feeling that he is actually suffering from it, which I don't want at all, so I'm going to do everything I can to get it pricked blood as soon as possible.
I never expected him to have another attack so soon. This saddens me.
I hope I have been able to explain it a little bit well and if you want to offer a little support, that is very welcome here via Yoor's points because this amount I have already saved here I will soon have paid out and will all go to him. Boris deserves to be with us for a long time.
