Being from a Portuguese family means that we have a whole lot of traditional food that we eat especially at Christmas, this includes all the little snacks inbetween your main course and all the sweet treats afterwards.

But being married to a South African has allowed me and I could say my sisters too as we are all married to South Africans, to mix up the traditions with a twist of our own.

So Portuguese people on Yoors will know all about Bolo Rei which we also eat, but the kids don't like all the fruits on it and they like the South African version on Christmas cake even less because of how much fruit is on it. So we usually bake something with the kids in mind.

One year my sister and I decided to make them this cake and so that there would be no arguements over vanilla or chocolate we did both.
