Recently, I participated in a market research conducted by a university where it was about safeguarding your privacy.
Questions such as: Do you delete your cookies and how often, disable them, or accept them without looking.

In this study, I was motivated to accept only the necessary cookies, I think that is a wise plan, and did so regularly.
Then I was also motivated to install Ghostery on my PC.

As far as I know, Ghostery is an extension to your browser that ensures that your data remains as safe as possible.
But: when I wanted to install the app, I got the following message: The app can read and change All your data on any website you visit.

I don't know very much about this kind of thing, so now I wonder: how safe is this extension?
It should ensure that your data is safe, but they will read everything and make changes to it.

I don't understand.
Is there anyone with more sense of this kind of thing who can and wants to explain this to me?

Thank you in advance!
